The decline of Sam Harris continues
Sam Harris continues to humiliate himself in public. He recently appeared on Lex Fridman’s podcast and continued to showcase his Trump Derangement Syndrome by declaring that in fact it is not he who is deranged, but rather those who support Donald Trump. He elaborates on this position by stating that normal people are not allowed to have opinions on important topics, should not debate them, and should instead essentially deify ‘experts’ and beg for morsels of their wisdom.
In an August 2022 interview, the writer and podcaster Sam Harris expounds upon his justification for employing a "left-wing conspiracy" in order to prevent the re-election of Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential race. Harris proclaimed that Trump posed an "existential threat to democracy," citing the suppression of a report by the New York Post in October 2020 which detailed the contents of a laptop abandoned by Hunter Biden, as evidence of the former president's corruption. However, such an appeal to a supposed "conspiracy" strikes one as both baseless and intellectually dishonest. The clip is below and, have you not yet seen it, I suggest you take a look so that you can comprehend the true depths of the TDS from which this ‘great intellectual’ suffers.

Here is Sam Harris’ take on the idea that Donald Trump broke his brain.

And in this final clip you will be able to hear that the filthy, unwashed masses should not be able to have opinions that were not handed to them by whomever he has deemed to be an expert.

“We’re swimming in a sea of misinformation, where you’ve got people who are moving the opinions of millions of others, who should not have an opinion on these topics. There is no scenario in which you should be getting your opinion about vaccine safety or climate change, or the war in Ukraine, or anything else that we might want to talk about from Candace Owens, right?” - Sam Harris
These statements by the so-called writer, neuroscientist, and secular philosopher, represent a grave error in reasoning that fundamentally violates the core principles of democratic societies. Harris' claim that conservatives should not have opinions on matters such as climate change and vaccines is not only patently absurd, but it also undermines the very foundations open debate upon which our great republic was founded. In a democratic society, all individuals, regardless of their political beliefs, should be free to express their opinions on any topic they choose. It is the responsibility of the democratic citizenry to engage in informed and rational discussion to arrive at a reasoned conclusion. By dismissing the opinions of a large segment of the population, Harris not only undermines the free exchange of ideas which underpins American society but also closes the door to potentially valuable contributions to important public debates. ‘The Science’ on COVID-19 has changed more than once and, in fact, Candace Owens was correct about both the vaccine being potentially harmful AND the vaccine being ineffective at preventing infection of the virus OR its transmission once you were infected. Moreover, his call to reject the opinions of individuals solely based on their political affiliation is an affront to intellectual honesty and evidential support. Rather than embracing the rich diversity of perspectives that society needs, Harris' statements reinforce a regressive ideological dogma that is ill-suited to navigating the complex problems of our times and, at least in the case of COVID, the suppression of actual truth in favor of protecting the veneer of credibility that our corrupt institutions still had at the beginning of the outbreak.
